Terms of service

Terms of service for international carriage: dimensions and weight of consignments, packaging, prohibited goods, documents, liability and release.

This is a translation of the Estonian original. In case of any discrepancy, the Estonian version applies.

1

Scope

These terms of service apply to carriage within the European Union.

2

Acceptance of consignments

Autopost Terminal OÜ (hereinafter APT) accepts consignments for forwarding to destinations in the APT parcel transport network on the basis of these terms of service and the price lists.

3

Dimensions and weight

A parcel is a consignment weighing up to 25 kg; a standard pallet measures 0.8 × 1.2 × 1.5 (height) metres and weighs up to 500 kg. The maximum dimensions of consignments are 2 × 2 × 1 m and the total weight up to 1.5 tonnes. Heavier loads require prior agreement with APT. When calculating the shipping costs of bulky consignments, 1 m³ is counted as 250 kg.

4

Loading

If the total weight of a consignment exceeds 35 kg, the loading is carried out by the sender / recipient of the goods, or they pay for it according to the price list. Waiting time during loading of more than 15 minutes is charged.

5

Packaging and marking

The packaging of consignments must be suitable for transport and, where necessary, bear the appropriate warning signs. The packaging must clearly show the name, address and contact telephone number of both the sender and the recipient.

6

Inspection of contents and prohibited goods

APT has the right to inspect the contents of a consignment in the presence of the sender. It is prohibited to send explosive, toxic and radioactive substances, as well as money, valuables, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and foodstuffs.

7

Consignment notes

When a consignment is sent, consignment notes are completed, stating the details of the consignment, the sender and the recipient and, where necessary (CMR), the carrier.

8

Liability

Delays and losses of consignments are handled in accordance with the CMR Convention. Until the consignment reaches its destination, APT bears material liability to the extent of the missing or damaged gross kilograms. For an uninsured consignment, APT undertakes to reimburse all shipping costs and to pay compensation up to the value of the lost consignment, but not more than 50 EUR.

9

Damaged consignment

If a consignment with damaged packaging arrives at its destination, a report describing the nature of the damage is drawn up in the presence of the recipient. APT is not liable for the damage if a reference to the damage is already contained in the consignment notes or on the packaging, if the consignment was packed in a manner unsuitable for transport, or if a required warning sign was missing.

10

Ownership of a compensated consignment

Where APT replaces a damaged consignment or its damaged parts or components, or compensates for them in money at their insured value, ownership of the remains of the compensated or replaced consignment passes to APT, and APT has the right to demand that they be handed over to it.

11

Release

The consignment is released to the recipient against signature on presentation of a photo identity document and, for a consignment addressed to a legal entity, on presentation of a corresponding power of attorney.

12

Retention of the consignment note

The consignment note issued to the sender upon dispatch must be kept at least until the consignment has been released to the recipient, as the basic document for resolving any claims.

13

Amendments

APT reserves the right to amend these terms of service and the price lists.
